While most people are in their pyjamas sipping champagne for breakfast, giving their family the presents they’ve been excited about for a while, apparently not everyone stops! You might be surprised to discover that there are actually things you can do on Christmas day! This is especially good news for anyone hosting Christmas in London, wanting to give the whole family something to do!
This is not a competition for who can stay looking the youngest for the longest. It is, in fact, an event in Hyde Park that has been happening every year. The Serpentine Swimming Club and the handicap list (those that made it through the finals), take part in a swimming race. With waters as low as -30F we’d much rather watch from the side-lines than get in ourselves, but it’s a great thing to incorporate into a Christmas day walk if you have the time!
The Ripley’s Believe it or Not gallery of oddities remains open on Christmas day! It is a guaranteed crowd pleaser for all of the family. Famous founder Ripley, regularly travelled and collected weird and wonderful items. To name just a few highlights that can be found at Ripley’s, there’s the shrunken heads, Marilyn Monroe’s dress, dinosaur eggs, a mermaid and more! If you’re not already tempted, you never will be! A great source of hours of entertainment this Christmas!
Perhaps you’re just looking for food? If you are, you’ll be taken care of at Dean Street Townhouse. It praises itself on being traditionally British so expect nothing less. You can get fish and chips with mushy peas, classic roast dinners and more. The breakfasts are also exquisite! Our favourite aspect of Dean Street Townhouse is, easily, the décor. Picture old Georgian features that are cosy and impressive!
