With summer events being at the forefront of everyone’s mind at the beginning of the year, we thought we’d recommend two fantastic pop ups to consider!
This authentic southern fried menu is bound to be a hit at any event. Founder, Bill, spent many a holiday in his grandma’s log cabin in Canada, fishing, craw fishing, BBQ-ing and getting down at Bluegrass Festival. With an American mum, southern friends and road trips, it was inevitable that Bill would bring some of his passion to the UK food market. Reflective of Southern hospitality, Bluegrass Bill’s was born, offering the taste and service of other street foods with a more laid back approach.
Bill aims to offer a festival ‘hoedown’ experience by thinking of more than just the food, adding the element of folk music, reminiscent of Bluegrass festival. He claims, since we spend so much time eating, drinking and socialising, we need to take the time to enjoy the experience. Describing his menu as low, slow and smoky, you can expect smoky slow-cooked beef chilli, delicious hot dogs, chilli dogs and the vegetarian options such as roasted sweet potato and bean chilli! Bring some Southern spice and great hospitality to your event with Bluegrass Bill’s.
Another fantastic pop up caterer, inspired by family, is Nonna’s Gelato. This charming but stylish ice cream company begins with Nonna, an Italian grandma whose love of homemade food inspired her grandchildren. This family run kitchen in Highbury make ice cream the Italian way, infusing, pasteurising, aging and churning all the batches by hand, using both Italian and British produce and natural ingredients to create tantalising tastes, very unlike the typical ice cream offerings, making them deliciously unique!
Flavours include Kentish Cob Nut, Blackberry and Vanilla Crumble, Five Points Porter and Chocolate Ripple and even bespoke flavours! Nonna’s Gelato can serve from their charming bike or by tray servers, theatre style, making them perfect for regular events, be it indoor or outdoor, as well as product launches and screenings where the trays are more suited. We are happy to have met Nonna’s Gelato and, having tried and tested some ice cream, we can definitely recommend them for a refreshing treat at your summer events or a necessary treat at your next screening!
