The sweetest day of the year has returned. Tomorrow, we will be filling our stomachs with pancakes! Following our article about where to go to eat on the day, we thought we’d accompany the advice with some news of fun events!
Every year, politicians, Lords and political correspondents dress up in the necessary hat and apron and battle it out in a pancake raise in order to raise money for the charity, Rehab. Their silly costumes, pancake flipping abilities and running will not only entertain onlookers but raise money for those who are marginalised in society. If you’d like to be one of those onlookers, be sure to head to Victoria Tower Gardens from 10am onwards!
If you’d like to get stuck in yourself then head to Borough market instead for a 100 metre, pancake flipping relay race! Participation and any donations on the day will go to the charity Painting in Hospitals, who teach fine art in clinical settings. If you’re not as good as you think you are on the day, don’t worry! If you drop your pancake, there’s no better place to be when dropping a pancake than Borough, famous for its food. The pancake traders have confirmed their presence on the day!
This phenomenon took the internet by storm a few years ago and if you still haven’t given it a go then make this the year that you do! Whilst we couldn’t find any classes to go to, we can help you get started to make it a home affair! You’ll need a good non-stick pan, pancake batter, a squeezy bottle and a spatula! If you really want to knock it up a gear, use food colouring! The trick is to outline the picture first and then add shading to begin darkening before filling in the rest of it!
